From childhood, I dreamed of writing fiction. Later, during my career as a practicing MD pathologist and researcher, I often remarked, “that belongs in a medical thriller novel!”

Although I published numerous scientific papers, I had no idea how to write a novel. So for many years, my dream remained tucked away in folders of manuscript notes, gathering dust.

But then something wonderful happened. Via an unexpected phone call, I was introduced to Self Publishing School, enrolled, received the help I had been searching for, and that long-held vision finally came to life.

It’s been such a fun and rewarding journey! (By the way, the heroine of The Pathologist Chronicles Series, Dr. Sophie Cadeaux, and I share some interests including Argentine tango. Who would have thought?)

May all you readers enjoy the Pathologist Chronicles as much as I enjoy writing them!

The Pathologist Chronicles

Dedicated pathologist Dr. Sophie Cadeaux is passionate about quality laboratory testing. So, in Cancer Under the Carpet when she discovers a faulty lab test missing cancer, she gets to work to set things right. She never imagined that there would be people in industry and academia who would do everything they could, including attempted bribery, threats, and censorship, to stop her. The faulty lab tests were just too profitable, patients be damned.

In book 2, Misplaced Scrutiny,  a shocking exposé reveals labs cutting corners to boost profits, at the expense of patients. Regulatory action promises to prevent the abuse, but Dr. Cadeaux discovers that the focus is misplaced, and will only make the problems worse. She embarks on a journey to improve lab testing, but instead of cooperation and thanks, she experiences more danger in the most unlikely settings.

In book 3 of the series, A Viral Test, Dr. Cadeaux’s path intersects with those involved in scientific fraud. The consequences are dire. How much danger and personal risk will Dr. Cadeaux be willing to endure to make sure patients are safe?

What Readers Think

"I was enthralled. Science, personal relations, Argentine tango dance, wardrobe malfunctions and more! I relate her stories to similar industrial machinations experienced in my own careers. Retired from working in science and business, I hadn't previously pursued extracurricular stories. But, now I am thrilled I seized the opportunity to read Sonya's book - it was good!"

"So far I have absolutely loved and enjoyed this book series. The protagonist is relatable, relative, daring, and perseveres in her work- fighting for the justice of women’s health. The adventures, set backs, and enemies she runs into on her journey are so exciting. A story that is not only interesting and immersive but also educational, I’m really looking forward to reading the next book."

This is the 2nd book in this series, but it could be read alone. This is a great mix of medical thriller and the personal life of Dr Sophie. You become invested in her life, and are rooting for her to expose the secrets of the medical world. There are some technical aspects of this book, but it is nothing that a lay person can’t understand! Can’t wait for book 3!
